Operating the EL3 Coldhead to Limit Radiative Heat Load on the βNMR Cryostat
The grounded snout of Einzel Lens EL3 protrudes into the bore of the βNMR solenoid close to the end of the cryostat.
It is thus potentially an important heatload on the cryostat. It has been designed with its own cryocooler:
This cryohead is operated through epics where it appears with a cryopump symbol on the appropriate vacuum page.
One can check that it is operating by seeing the compressor in the grey box is moving.
