Watching out for variables when experiment is runningMasrur Hossain with BNMR group 1. BNMR High Voltage Platform BiasFrom ISAC EPICS main menu-->Optics-->ILE2A3/BNMR-->BNMR-HVBIASSet the bias by right clicking on the panel showing bias by a pointer. The current (3 microamp in the above picture) is within 10 microamp when the platform bias is ok. Howeverr if it goes up ~100-200 microamp, then there is a discharge problem on the platform and it can't hold the voltage. Set the bias to zero and then gradually increase it upto the point where it can hold. This is essentially a conditioning problem and should ideally not happen. 2. Count rates, asymmetry, other parametersFrom ISAC EPICS main menu, right click on 'Utilities' and select 'start strip tool'. At the pop-up window, click on file-->loadWhile the experiment is running, select 'bnmr_rates.stp'. Right click on the new window and select 'controls' and you can modify all the ranges. 3. Laser ControlFrom ISAC EPICS main menu-->Optics-->ILE2/Polarizer-->Laser Control. On the bottom left panel the number (-1.163) indicates how much effort the instruments have to put in place to make the laser frequency stable. If it goes beyond (+-5) in either direction, call Phil Levy. The laser power is also generally higher than 0.5 V. 3. Analyzing the current experimentAs the experiment proceeds, see the spectra via the 'bnmrfit' program. On isdaq01, go to /home/bnmr/bnmrfit/ directory and use$physica + return and type @bnmrfit+return Use '?' + return to see a list of available commands. BNMRFIT is under heavy development. In case you need some help to get started, ask group members. |
